Moritzburg Castle is an imposing Baroque palace and one of the most beautiful moated castles in Europe.

Its 200 rooms and the idyllic surrounding landscape give it this imposing and beautiful aspect.

Built between 1542-1546 by Duke Maurice of Saxony, it is located near the city of Dresden, in the federal state of Saxony. The harmonious integration into the landscape of the castle is completed by the surrounding gardens, forests and lakes, as well as the small pheasant castle, the mole lighthouse and the hunting compound, thus forming an idyllic setting. It was the favorite area of the electors and kings of Saxony.

During the 17th century plans to include the surrounding area in the design were tried.

Therefore, Elector Friedrich August I., King of Poland and known as August the Strong, had the castle rebuilt from 1723 to 1733, according to the plans of the master builder Matthäus Daniel Pöppelmann, including the surrounding landscape, at a representative palace of hunting and pleasure

The castle, whose main axis runs from south to north, stands on an artificial island in a pond.
